Disneyland Florida is a great holiday destination for
families with children and this is because there is so much to do and see, for
both adults and children. Due to the size of the resort, if this article
attempted to cover every area, it would be pages and pages long. Instead, it will
focus on ‘The Magic Kingdom’ and ‘Hollywood Studios’.
The Magic Kingdom is home to the Main Street and infamous
castle. Disney’s original park, this area focuses on fairy tales and classic
Disney characters. Hollywood Studios looks into the making of Disney movies,
including classics ranging from Jurassic Park to Toy Story.
Guided Tours
Guided tours are expensive and can cost in the region of
$300 (£180) an hour. However, group bookings can be for up to 12 people and if
you have the funds, well worth it. Guides know the park like the back of their
hand and will know all the best routes, views points for shows and parades, the
nearest toilets, highlight and book places to eat for lunch etc.
Visiting Disneyland Florida is going to dent the bank
account, so spending a few extra pounds to ensure you get the most out of your
stay only seems reasonable. Guides will pick out things that you may have missed
and great with children, doing everything in their power to make the trip extra
special. If you decide on paying for a guide, you won’t necessarily need them
for the whole time, as you may at times want to go off and explore by yourself.
However, if you can’t afford one, you will still have an incredible time.
Highlights
Toy Story Midway
Mania (Hollywood Studios) – This is definitely one of the best rides here
and fun for the whole family. Test your aiming skills and control, as you are
put in the middle of a Toy Story carnival, shooting at a variety of targets.
Aerosmith Rock and
Roll Coaster (Hollywood Studios) – Great for mini thrill-seekers! Boasting
0-60mph in only 3 seconds. Make sure that you hold on tight!
Hollywood Tower of
Terror (Hollywood Studios) - Get a kick out of being scared? Then this
spooky ride is for you! Test your nerves and see who the big baby of the group
is.
Fantasyland (The
Magic Kingdom) – If either ‘Beauty and the Beast’ or ‘The Little Mermaid’
was your favourite film as a kid (or still now as a grown-up), make sure you
visit Fantasyland. Inside are a range of themes rides, a princess hall and last
but by no means least, the ‘Be Our Guest’ restaurant. This restaurant is a
carbon copy of the dining hall in ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and once inside you
will feel as if you are actually there! Look carefully enough and you will also
see the magic rose hiding somewhere!
Gaston’s Tavern (The
Magic Kingdom) – Make sure that you make a stop at Gaston’s Tavern for a
refreshing drink of “LeFou’s Brew”. This is a fruity mixture of frozen apple
juice, marshmallow and a mango topping. It costs just $10 (£6) and comes in
either a souvenir tankard or princess cup.
